Newer laryngeal-to-pharyngeal phonation redirection concept develops the same historical inspiration into a modern physiological hypothesis. A 2026 publication by Dr M Kumaresan on KOFT describes UMAR as facilitating phonation from the larynx toward the pharynx through oropharyngeal facilitation.

Dr M Kumaresan's observation:

1.Cause of puberphonia: Puberphonia is due to a maladaptive phonatory-resonatory behavior of continuing high pitch voice even attaining adulthood in male and continuing intentionally or un intentionally.

 2.UMAR:Oropharyngeal facilitation will provide a sensory-motor pathway that reorganizes phonatory behavior, reduces maladaptive behavior , and facilitates acquisition of an adult voice."

How Oropharyngeal Facilitation UMAR work in puberphonia : occurs when a male maintains an adolescent, high-pitched voice after puberty. Oropharyngeal facilitation works via a specific therapeutic mechanism:
2.Sensory-Motor Reorganization: The technique provides an internal pathway that alerts the brain to a different vocal tract configuration.
2.Uvula Modulation: It often includes targeted internal manipulation (such as the Uvula Manipulation and Resonance or UMAR technique) to widen the back of the throat and activate deeper resonance.
3.Breaking the Pitch Habit:
Training the individual to accept and stabilize the sensory feeling of their new, authentic adult voice.
